Meet Our Operational Manager
Streets2Degrees proudly welcomes Ivette Reyna as the organization’s Operational Manager. Ivette brings with her a powerful, lived understanding of the educational systems Streets2Degrees seeks to transform, paired with the operational skill and insight needed to turn vision into action.
Ivette’s educational journey began in some of the most underresourced and disadvantaged schools in San Diego. Through resilience, determination, and academic excellence, she graduated in the top ten of her high school class before going on to earn a degree in American Studies, with a concentration in Health Disparities, from the University of California, Berkeley. Her educational experiences deeply shaped her commitment to equity, access, and well‑being across communities.
After returning to San Diego, Ivette continued her academic and professional growth by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, all while working at Palomar College. Her path reflects a rare combination of scholar, practitioner, and professional; bridging education, health, and student services with compassion and purpose.
As Operational Manager, Ivette plays a critical role in supporting the mission of Streets2Degrees by strengthening organizational systems, guiding strategic operations, and ensuring that the work remains grounded in both impact and care. Her journey, from underresourced schools to a reputable university and healthcare, embodies the very pathways Streets2Degrees seeks to illuminate and expand.
Ivette’s story is a testament to what is possible when opportunity meets persistence, and her leadership ensures that those opportunities are extended to others.

Dr. Juan Carlos Reyna’s journey spans community colleges, the California State University system, and entrepreneurship. As a Community College Dean, CSU faculty member, and business owner, his work is driven by a commitment to access, community support, and building organizations that create meaningful pathways from education to opportunity.
Dr. Juan Carlos Reyna is a higher education leader committed to advancing equity, access, and student success through student‑centered, data‑informed practices. His work amplifies the voices of underrecognized and underserved communities and emphasizes inclusive leadership rooted in collaboration and accountability.
Through public speaking, training, consulting, and institutional leadership, Dr. Reyna engages educators, students, and families in critical conversations that strengthen educational systems and expand opportunity. His non‑traditional journey, from the streets to earning a terminal degree, inspires the mission behind Streets2Degrees and continues to shape his work as an advocate and change agent in education.
